Spouses to Teachers Program (STT)
The Spouses to Teachers Program is one of the ways the Department of Defense is trying to assist spouses in obtaining portable careers that can travel from installation to installation. The STT counsels military spouses on issues related to teaching and certification. In some cases, stipends may be available to pay for testing such as the PRAXIS.
The benefits of the program include:
You do not have to already have your degree in order to benefit from this program. It can help those who are just starting college, about to graduate or who have been teachers for quite some time. All active duty spouses, selected reserve and guard spouses and activated IRR spouses are eligible for assistance. In addition, assistance is available to spouses stationed CONUS and OCONUS.
Visit the Spouses to Teachers website at www.spousestoteachers.com to find more information on this program or to apply for the stipend to cover exam costs.
