92F - Petroleum
Supply
Specialist
**Stacey...I think it is important to
note that since my husband is prior service, his experience
is different than new soldiers. He had a lot more freedoms
and a lot more responsibilities than the new ones, and I
don't want to confuse anyone. The basic info is the same
for both though. :) ** Your Name (as you would like it to appear): Sara
Your Soldier's MOS (please include code and description, for example "11B Infantry") 92F - Petroleum Supply Specialist
When did your soldier attend?
1/2008-3/2008 Where was he stationed for AIT? Fort Lee, VA
How long was his AIT? 9 weeks
What was his training like? Normal schedule? Did he train on weekends? Late at night? Classroom or field based? For the first six weeks his training schedule was Monday-Friday from 4:30 - 18:00 most days. He had weekends off with off post privileges. However, his CQ duty (which he had often) usually fell on his weekend days or nights. During the seventh week, he had a field training exercise on Monday - Thursday. After he returned from this exercise his training returned to the Monday-Friday schedule. The training is a mix between classroom learning and practical training. My husband seemed to really enjoy the practical aspect of the course.
Did you get to see him during AIT? Yes, I spent two four-day weekends with him during his training.
How often were you able to communicate with him? By phone? Email? I was able to speak with him by phone every night, and sometimes on his breaks during the day. During Log Warrior (FTX) I was able to speak with him very briefly each night, but I know that new soldiers did not have this privilege. Internet availability was limited unless he wanted to spend the money to use the internet cafe at the PX.
Describe the graduation ceremony. I will not be attending, as it is a very small event. Most of the families/spouses we know will not be attending either.
Any other tips or information? If you
have the chance to visit, I highly recommend it. There are
a lot of things to do nearby and the area is beautiful.
However, the Post Lodging seems to always be full with TDY
soldiers, so it is best to make other arrangements.
