Your Name
(as you would like it to appear): Jessica
Your Soldier's MOS (please include code and description, for
example "11B Infantry")
68W Healthcare Specialist
When did your soldier attend?
Nov 07-March 08
Where was he stationed for AIT?
San Antonio, TX
How long was his AIT?
16 wks
What was his training like? Normal schedule? Did he train on
weekends? Late at night? Classroom or field based?
training was in the classroom mostly. He would be released
in the evenings around 6-7pm. The last week of AIT was field
training. It was a solid week of training in the field (FTX)
with ZERO contact.
Did you get to see him during AIT?
I went to see him twice not counting Grad. However, he
wasn't allowed to have any overnight passes. This was a rule
that was enforced for his cycle and following cycles as well
for security reasons. They had an 11 curfew on the weekends.
How often were you able to communicate with him? By phone?
Email?
every night on the phone until lights out and then all day
on the weekends. he had internet access every night and all
day on weekends
Describe the graduation ceremony.
There was a dinner the night before grad for family and
friends of the graduates. It was $10/ticket, but it was a
pretty good meal. They had a slide show of pics from the
grad as well. It was a nice time. Grad was at 9 am. It was
brief considering there were about 300 graduates. We were
able to video and take still shots. After it was over they
had to get their packets with their records and then see
their sgt briefly. He was released at 12:30. And we were
FREE TO GO!!

Any other tips or information?
Set up travel arrangements as soon as you can get a copy of
orders. Allow DH time to study in the evenings even if you
do want to talk all night! A lot of his peers failed out
(for whatever reason) so remember, that they need time to
study.
