63B Light Wheel Mechanic Your Name: Emily S Your Soldier's MOS: 63B Light-wheel mechanic When did your soldier attend? july 2003 Where was he stationed for AIT? Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD (but now it's Ft. Jackson) How long was his AIT? 13 weeks What was his training like? Normal schedule? Did he train on weekends? Late at night? Classroom or field based?: Mostly classroom and during the day only. Off on Sundays. Now they are off after noon on Sat and have to be back Sunday night for linen change Did you get to see him during AIT? Only on the weekends but cell phones are allowed so you could talk every night. There are also pay phones in the hall. How often were you able to communicate with him? By phone? Email? Nightly by phone, email is available at the MWR (Moral Welfare and Recreation) down the road Describe the graduation ceremony. They went on a stage, got their certificates, and left. Dress was jeans and a nice blouse or skirts. Not too casual, not too dressy. Any other tips or information? You do PT 5 days a week and only do the field for 3 days during the whole training.
