Husband since 2004, me since 2006

What is housing like? On-post? (waiting list, conditions, etc.) On post housing is nice and getting nicer. It's privatized and ran through a company called picerne.

Off-post? Off post it depends on the neighborhood, there are many nice areas.

Any areas to stay away from? Stay away from Bragg Blvd. Each unit should have a list of places that are banned for military Average price to rent or buy? Rent 2 bed 600-800 3 bed 800-1000, Buy $100,000 - 150,000

Rate the PX & Commissary.

The best PX and Commissary I've seen. 2 of each on post on at south post and one at north post.

Activities on base?

There are many activities on base, just check the calendars

Active Spouses Club?

There are many spouse groups, just find one where you fit.

Things to do in area?

Lots of movie theaters, a decent mall, about 4 walmarts, beach isn't far away, many museums

School System?

I haven't heard great things about most of the schools. I know there is one really good one but I cant think of the name. Schools on post are great

Any colleges in area?

Fayetteville tech community college, Fayetteville State University, Methodist College, University of NC at Pembroke, About 5 or six satellite campuses on post

Jobs? (on post and off)

Jobs are hard to find in the area, unemployment rate is high, pay is low

Favorite aspect of this base/surrounding city?

The nicest base I've seen, its large and has many things to do.

Least favorite aspect?

Can have bad traffic in the mornings and evenings when everyone is going to work and getting off of work

Any other tips?

Fort Bragg is really nice, and Fayetteville is okay, some areas are very bad. My husband and I both love Bragg. The things people say about Fayetteville (a.k.a. Fayettenam) are probably true.
