Seven
Core Army Values
'val-(")yü
- something (as a principle or quality) intrinsically valuable or
desirable
Your
Army soldier's life in the Army will be based on the seven core Army
values. He will act out his personal life and his career based on these
values. During each week of BCT (basic combat training), he will be
introduced to a new value.
The
Guide for New Soldiers and Their Families describes the values in
this way:
Loyalty:
Bear true faith and allegiance to the U.S. Constitution, the Army,
your unit and other soldiers.
Duty:
Fulfill your obligations
Respect:
Treat people as they should be treated
Selfless
Service: Put the welfare of the nation, the Army and your
subordinates before your own
Honor:
Live up to all the Army values
Integrity:
Do what's right, legally and morally
Personal
Courage: Face fear, danger or adversity - physical or moral
If
you'll notice, the first letter of each value spells "LDRSHIP"
or leadership.
